Cloranfenicol 5 mg 15ml Solution
INDICATIONS: Cloranfenicol is indicated for the treatment of external infections of the eye and / or its annexes that affect eyelids, conjunctiva and / or cornea caused by organisms susceptible to chloramphenicol, such as conjunctivitis, blepharitis, keratitis, keratoconjunctivitis, blepharitis and so forth.
Cloranfenicol is a highly effective broad-spectrum antibiotic against most gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria and most anaerobic including obligate anaerobes, mycoplasmas, rickettsiae and spirochetes. Have reported a high efficiency of 91 to 93% in eye infections and is active against more than 94 % of ocular pathogens.
Cloranfenicol is useful in preoperative and postoperative prophylaxis.
Advantages: A broad spectrum of antibacterial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative aerobic and anaerobic therefore , a good tolerance for multiple dosing regimens , safety and effectiveness as a single agent for the treatment of external ocular infections. Clinical studies have shown that its use in children is safe.
DRUG INTERACTIONS : Cloranfenicol applied topically, is not known to produce drug interactions and may be administered concomitantly with ocular lubricants , steroids, glaucoma, etc.
Topical anesthetics may increase the absorption of topical drugs, favor the occurrence of side effects and adverse.
If a combination with one bacteriostatic bactericidal antibiotic administered, antagonism between the two can develop.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: It is suggested to CLORAMFENI OFTEN ® in the lower conjunctival sac of the affected eye. 1 to 2 drops every 4 hours for a period of 7 to 10 days.
The dosage should be adjusted at the discretion of the physician depending on the condition and the severity of it.
