VENGESIC is indicated in the treatment of acute musculoskeletal conditions and chronic degenerative rheumatic involving inflammation, pain and functional disability. Some of the main therapeutic indications VENGESIC are in the short-term treatment of acute painful rheumatic or exacerbation of chronic musculoskeletal conditions such as in cases of acute gouty arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, osteoarthritis, bursitis and tenosynovitis. Physical therapy as an adjuvant, as well as acute pain disorders generating source either bone or muscle. Also effective for the resolution of the inflammatory process in thrombophlebitis and trauma.
Dosage: Usually in the case of rheumatic dose must be individualized for each patient and pathology in particular looking especially indispensable VENGESIC minimum dose for symptomatic improvement and limit its use to short-term treatments.
In rheumatoid arthritis-dose two to three tablets per day in divided shots for 1 to 2 weeks VENGESIC may help in the treatment of intermittent exacerbations.
-The pharmacological management of ankylosing spondylitis can be started with one tablet of VENGESIC per day and increase if necessary to once every 12 hours or every 8 hours not to exceed three tablets per day. By controlling the symptoms the dose should be minimized able to maintain the improvement.
VENGESIC is notoriously effective in the treatment of acute gout acute painful blind box, the dose is one to two tablets every six hours until the acute attack decreases which generally occurs in the first three days. In such a short time is rarely administration toxicity problem. Using VENGESIC in patients with musculoskeletal disorders that present with disabling pain and inflammation as some cases of tenosynovitis tendonitis bursitis osteoarthritis and trauma, must fall within the limits of the recommended dosages usually range from one to four tablets of VENGESIC per day in divided doses. If after 1 week of treatment, the drug does not cause a favorable response should be discontinued treatment.
VENGESIC not be used in patients with gastrointestinal disease such as gastric or duodenal ulcer gastritis gastrointestinal bleeding or recent active. The drug is not indicated in renal, cardiac, thyroid, hematopoietic, hepatic dysfunction or in patients on anticoagulant therapy. Not be administered when there hypersensitivity to the components of the formula. The drug is contraindicated in patients with hypertension. The toxic effects of phenylbutazone are more intense in the elderly and therefore should not use in such patients, it is not convenient use in children under 14 years of age. Due to the immunosuppressive effect of dexamethasone VENGESIC use is contraindicated in systemic mycosis, infectious processes and concomitant administration of live vaccines.
VENGESIC is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to methocarbamol. Being a central nervous system depressant precautions should be taken if the patient is taking other CNS depressants.
Adverse effects Vengesic
Due to its relative toxicity potential should be used with care VENGESIC within limits recommended dosages and should not be prescribed for long periods. In short treatments 1 to 2 weeks is rarely toxicity problem phenylbutazone dexamethasone. Toxic reactions to phenylbutazone include: rash hypersensitivity reaction similar to serum sickness sodium retention erythema edema itching nausea vomiting peptic ulceration stomatitis and depression prothrombin blood dyscrasias. The most serious side effects include peptic ulcer or bleeding or perforation reactivation hypersensitivity reactions such as Stevens-Johnson syndrome, ulcerative stomatitis, hepatitis, nephritis, aplastic anemia, leukopenia, agranulocytosis and thrombocytopenia. Deaths have been reported particularly by aplastic anemia and agranulocytosis.
Should immediately discontinue use of the drug if fever pharyngitis or other mouth injuries jaundice itching rash weight gain or hair. Regarding dexamethasone has been observed that with prolonged use the frequency and severity of rheumatic disease osteoporosis increases the same as compression fractures of the vertebrae and avascular osteonecrosis affecting the femoral head. The dexamethasone may reduce acquired resistance to infection or reactivated. The therapeutic use of dexamethasone can cause toxic effects two kinds: those that come from suppression of steroid therapy and appearing for continuous use.
The most common adverse reaction of steroid suppression is a worsening of the underlying disease is the most serious complication acute adrenal insufficiency depends too fast suppression after prolonged treatment which suppresses the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis. Complications that occur by continued use of supraphysiological dose steroids include: fluid and electrolyte abnormalities, hypertension, hyperglycemia, increased susceptibility to infection, osteoporosis, myopathy, behavioral disorders, cataract growth interruption, fat redistribution, striae, ecchymoses, acne and hirsutism and possible increased risk of peptic ulcers. Methocarbamol is a little toxic drug and frequency of adverse reactions is not very high. When they arise may include: nausea, photophobia, dyspnea allergic manifestations such as urticaria, pruritus, rash, conjunctivitis, nasal congestion, blurred vision, headache and fever.
The decrease or suppression doses of medication these disorders quickly disappear.
