Benzatina 200,000u INJECTABLE SOL, Bencilpenicilina
suspension for injection
Broad spectrum antibiotic
Each vial contains:
Benzathine benzylpenicillin ...................................... 1,200,000 U
Penicillin G is five to 10 times more active against Neisseria species sensitive to penicillins and against some anaerobic bacteria such as Clostridium. Penicillin G is active against various species of gram-negative and gram-positive cocci. Most streptococci (not enterococci) are sensitive to it.
Most strains of Corynebacterium diphtheriae are sensitive to penicillin G. One of the microorganism with extraordinary sensitivity is Treponema pallidum. For the prophylaxis of rheumatic fever, as well as follow-up prophylactic treatment of rheumatic heart disease and acute glomerulonephritis. Prophylaxis in patients with hemolytic streptococci. Respiratory tract infections of mild to moderate pharyngitis and recurrent tonsillitis. Venereal infections such as syphilis.
CONTRAINDICATIONS: Do not administer to patients with a history of allergic reactions to any penicillin reactions.
In infections by penicillin-resistant germs
Known hypersensitivity. Atopic predisposition. Renal failure. Preexisting seizure disorders. Patients with electrolyte abnormalities.
RESTRICTIONS OF USE DURING PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING
Apparently altered pharmacokinetics during pregnancy. Penicillins cross the placenta rapidly and should be used during pregnancy only if necessary. Also, penicillin is excreted in breast milk, but its effects in infants has not been established, so it should be used cautiously during lactation.
Hypersensitivity: hypersensitivity responses are the most common adverse events emerge and are perhaps the most common starting point for drug allergy. The manifestations of allergy include rash maculopapular, urticarial rash, fever, bronchospasm, vasculitis, serum sickness, exfoliative dermatitis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome and anaphylaxis.
Rashes of all types can be caused by allergy to penicillin.
Sometimes scarlatiniform, morbilliform, urticarial, vesicular and bullous eruptions arise; purpuric lesions are uncommon. Another rare complication is Henoch-Schönlein renal attack.
Hypersensitivity reactions are produced severe angioedema, and anaphylaxis.
Serum sickness varies from a picture with fever, rash and leucopenia, arthralgia to arthritis or intense, purple, lymphadenopathy, splenomegaly, mental changes, electrocardiographic abnormalities suggesting myocarditis, generalized edema, albuminuria and hematuria.
Cutaneous vasculitis or other organs may depend on penicillin hypersensitivity and positive Coombs reaction during prolonged administration.
Fever may be the only sign of a hypersensitivity reaction to penicillins and reach high values, be constant or intermittent sender and is sometimes accompanied by chills.
Eosinophilia is occasional companion of other allergic reactions to penicillin.
Interstitial nephritis can be generated by penicillins.
Penicillin excretion decreases when administered concomitantly probenecid. The same continues and increases blood levels of penicillin.
PRECAUTIONS IN RELATION TO EFFECTS Carcinogenesis, Mutagenesis, Impairment of Fertility
Although penicillin rapidly crosses the placenta, there are no studies reporting alterations mutagenic or teratogenic or carcinogenic.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION:
In streptococcal infections are administered by a single injection of 1.2 million units.
Penicillin in people exposed to Streptococcus pyogenes protects against infection with a single dose of 1.2 million.
Recurrences of rheumatic fever: Administration of 1.2 million once a month produces excellent results.
In the case of tertiary syphilis and neurosyphilis, 2.4 million doses once a week for three weeks is effective.
In the pediatric population, where prophylaxis or in case of congenital syphilis in children under 27 kg are indicated from 300,000 to 600,000 units, 000 U and 900 in children weighing more than 27 kg.
MANIFESTATIONS AND MANAGEMENT OF OVERDOSE OR ACCIDENTAL INGESTION
There are no reports in the literature of overdosage with penicillin.
Because the viscosity of the suspension of penicillin neurovascular reactions may occur, in which case it is symptomatic management.
Store at room temperature to no more than 30 ° C and dry temperature.
