Vioformo Cream 60g, Clioquinol
Antiseptic and fungicide for external use. Antifungal and / or antibacterial surface dermatomycosis not extensive, infected forms of eczema, pyoderma and minor burns. Soothes and not burn. Helps heal and disinfect scrapes, cuts and minor burns. Aid relief of skin fungus.
When applied as a cream or ointment, clioquinol is absorbed through the skin so as healthy patient. If the formulation is administered at therapeutic doses, the active substance can not be detected in plasma using conventional analytical methods (detection limit: 0.02 g / ml). Therefore, the kinetics of clioquinol after topical application can be determined based only on renal excretion, which serves to indicate the minimum amount of active substance absorbed. Applying 1 g of Vioformo ® at 3%, which contains 30 mg of clioquinol on 200 cm ² of healthy skin (0.15 mg active substance per cm ²) and left in situ for 9.5 hours under an occlusive dressing, the amount excreted with the 48-hour urine (primarily as glucuronide and in small proportion as sulphates) is a maximum of 1.2 or 3.6% of the dose. In urine clioquinol only traces appear unchanged.
Spectrum of antimicrobial activity: Clioquinol produces a bacteriostatic effect, and no bactericidal the following microorganisms:
Gram-negative bacteria: Vioformo ® only has marginal inhibitory effect on gram-negative bacteria. However, since strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosa are quite resistant to clioquinol, wound treatment with this substance could lead to selective growth of this organism, which could lead to septicemia.
Hypersensitivity hydroxyquinolines, to clioquinol and other quinoline derivatives, as well as sodium lauryl sulfate and iodine. Application to children under two years of age.
Application should be avoided in relatively large areas of skin and / or eroded, and treatment for more than a week, as this can result in a marked increase in protein-bound iodine (PBI) (See Manifestations and management of overdose or accidental ingestion). For the same reason, Vioformo ® is not suitable for use under occlusive dressings. Caution should be used in patients with hepatic and / or renal impairment. Vioformo ® should not come in contact with the conjunctiva. Contact with Vioformo ® can cause hair discoloration and stains on clothing and linens.
RESTRICTIONS OF USE DURING PREGNANCY AND BREASTFEEDING
As with all medical treatment, Vioformo ® should be used with caution during pregnancy, especially in the first three months. It is unknown whether the active substance passes into breast milk. An evaluation of the benefits to the mother in relation to the risk to the product.
Rarely, allergic rashes. In such cases, or in the presence of other signs of hypersensitivity, Vioformo ® should be discontinued.
DRUG INTERACTIONS AND OTHER GENDER
Employment Vioformo ® topical can increase the proportion of GDP in patients with normal thyroid function (see PRECAUTIONS and WARNINGS) and also interferes with thyroid function tests. For this reason, such tests may not be made until a month after stopping treatment. Other tests of thyroid function, such as triiodothyronine resin by admission or determination of thyroxine, unaffected by Vioformo ®. The ferric chloride test for phenylketonuria can yield false positive results when the clioquinol is present in the urine.
