Nystatin is used for: Treatment of fungal infections of the stomach, intestines, and mucous membranes. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor. Nystatin is an antifungal. It works by weakening cell membranes of the sensitive fungus. This allows the cell contents to leak out and results in death of the fungus.
